He has extensive and well-established experience in the chemical, metallurgical, and aerospace sectors, developed over more than fifty years of professional activity.
After earning a two-year specialization in Industrial Chemistry from the Enrico Fermi Institute, he began his career in 1970 at the Experimental Metallurgical Center, where he remained until 1980. During the same period, from 1970 to 1985, he also worked as a Technical Instructor at the Vittorino da Feltre Institute, teaching evening courses in chemical analysis and stoichiometry.
Over the years, he has held numerous high-level positions in institutions and companies of strategic importance for the country’s industrial and technological development. From 1995 to 1997, he served as a Board Member of the Italian Aeronautical Register (RAI), and from 2001 to 2006, he was on the Board of the Center for Materials Development (CSM). He was a member of the Board of the Italian Aerospace Research Center (CIRA) from 1999 to 2009, and again from 2013, also serving as its President.
From 2003 to 2008, he was President of UNAVIA, where he continues to serve as a Board Member. At the international level, he is actively involved in the sector as a member of the Board of Directors of the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD), and as a Government Observer to the NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG).
Between 2007 and 2011, he held the position of President and CEO of Alenia Hellas. Later, from 2011 to 2013, he was a Board Member of Agusta Aerospace Services (A.A.S.).
Since 1993, he has served as Secretary General of the Italian Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), which in 1997 became AIAD – the Federation of Italian Companies for Aerospace, Defence and Security, following the merger of AIA, RITAD, and ANIE-DSS.
His long-standing commitment and professional achievements have been recognized with national honors: in 2002 he was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, and in 2017 he was further honored as Officer of the Order of Merit.
